Task & responsibilities
- Planning, preparing and cooking breakfast, brunch, lunch and seasonal menu items.
- Designing and updating menus in consultation with management.
- Developing new recipes and specials to enhance customer experience.
- Monitoring food quality, portion control and presentation standards.
- Estimating food and labour costs and assisting with budgeting.
- Ordering, receiving and monitoring stock supplies and ingredients.
- Managing inventory levels and minimising food wastage.
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, health and hygiene regulations.
- Supervising kitchen operations and coordinating food preparation activities.
- Training and mentoring kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and workplace procedures.
- Ensuring efficient kitchen workflow during peak service periods.
- Monitoring kitchen equipment and arranging maintenance when required.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
- Catering for dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options where required.
- Ensuring consistent quality and timely service of all meals.
Qualification & experience
- Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, or equivalent qualification.
- At least one years of relevant full-time work experience as a Chef (or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience).
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and commercial kitchen operations.
- Sound understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work weekends, public holidays and flexible shifts as required.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
