Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated full-time Chef who specializes in South Asian cuisine
to manage and oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation and
presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes featured on the Spicy Paradise Clayton South
menu, including egg fried rice, chicken, pork and seafood fried rice, Bali-style nasi
goreng, koththu, devilled chicken and seafood dishes, stir-fried noodles and rice
meals, as well as Sri Lankan–influenced items such as cutlets and pan-rolls, ensuring
all meals are tailored to customer preferences and dietary requirements.
- Operate and monitor kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, fryers), adjusting settings to
ensure optimal cooking conditions.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness
standards are upheld.
- Inspect the quality of raw ingredients and finished dishes to maintain consistency and
presentation standards.
- Season and cook food precisely to meet the resturant’s culinary standards.
- Control food portions and present dishes attractively, with garnishes and final touches.
- Store ingredients and prepared foods appropriately, maintaining strict temperature
controls for food safety.
- Assist in menu planning, food requirement estimations, and stock management to
reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff and apprentices, fostering a collaborative and
efficient kitchen environment.
- Supervise kitchen operations during peak service times, including nights, weekends,
and public holidays.
Skills and Experience Required
- At least 2 years of full-time experience as a Chef, preferably in Sri Lankan or South
Asian cuisine.
- Relevant qualifications in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or higher).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong focus on detail and quality.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and time-management skills.
