The Original Coopers Alehouse is seeking a highly skilled and motivated full time Chef to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise and passion for modern Australian pub cuisine in one of Adelaide CBD's most iconic dining and hospitality venues. Located at the heart of the Adelaide CBD, The Original Coopers Alehouse combines the rich history of SA's own Coopers Brewery with a contemporary dining experience.
As Chef, you will be responsible for the preparation and production of high-quality dishes featuring locally sourced South Australian produce, including fresh dry-aged steaks, wood-fired pizzas, and premium pub fare made from the freshest local ingredients.

Task & responsibilities
- Planning and preparing menus in line with customer preferences, monitoring kitchen operational costs, and coordinating the ordering and management of kitchen supplies and ingredients.
- Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation, from entrées through to our signature schnitzel range, wood-fired pizzas, grills, and desserts
- Discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff
- Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures, including dry-ageing of meat hanging primal cuts for several weeks to enhance flavour profile and tenderness
- Preparing and cooking food across our full menu, including chicken and beef schnitzels, wood-fired sourdough dishes, dry-aged steaks, pork ribs, and house-made dips and bruschetta
- Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations in line with relevant South Australian food safety legislation
- May select and train kitchen staff
- May freeze and preserve foods in accordance with food safety standards
Qualification & experience
- Minimum Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in relevant field (or higher)
- Must be a team player and have at least 1 year full-time or equivalent experience working as a chef, with demonstrated experience in modern Australian pub dining including grills, wood-fired cooking, and contemporary bistro cuisine
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment, including all-day dining
- Strong planning skills and the ability to lead and inspire kitchen staff across lunch, dinner, and function services
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team alongside front-of-house, bar, and management staff
- Ability to select and onboard kitchen staff as required
