About the Role

LA Salita, a well-regarded Italian cuisine dining venue in Bundoora, is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing food preparation and cooking, maintaining kitchen operations, and ensuring high standards of quality and consistency in all dishes served.

Tasks and Responsibilities include:

• Planning, preparing and cooking menu items to high standards.
• Monitoring food quality, presentation and portion control.
• Supervising and training kitchen staff and apprentices.
• Developing and updating seasonal menus and specials.
• Monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies and reducing wastage.
• Maintaining food hygiene, safety and workplace health standards.
• Working collaboratively to ensure efficient kitchen operations.

Skills and Experience required:

• Certificate IV in Kitchen management or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
• Strong leadership and time-management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices.
• Ability to manage a busy kitchen and work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
