Tasks & responsibilities
- Create seasonal menus that reflect ingredient availability and culinary creativity.
- Train and guide kitchen staff to ensure consistent quality in food preparation and presentation.
- Monitor food and labour costs to enhance profitability.
- Hire, train, and nurture kitchen personnel to build a cohesive team environment.
- Plan and oversee all food preparation and cooking activities.
- Design diverse menus that cater to various dietary needs and preferences.
- Manage food and labour expenses to achieve a balance between profitability and exceptional dining experiences.
- Source and manage food supplies to ensure they are fresh and available.
- Supervise the quality of dishes from preparation to presentation.
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide culinary advice.
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes of high quality.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Work with the kitchen team to maintain cleanliness and organization.
- Participate in the selection and training of kitchen staff.
- Implement proper food preservation and safety methods.
Qualifications & experience
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in culinary management or kitchen operations.
- Understanding of menu creation, cost management for food, and overall kitchen operations.
