LET’S EXPLORE THE JOB
We’re seeking motivated and capable individuals to join our Beach Lifeguard Team on a casual basis. In this role you will help deliver essential beach safety and water rescue services across Redhead, Blacksmiths, Caves Beach and Catherine Hill Bay.
Play an important role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of beachgoers through proactive supervision, emergency response and public education.
This role operates on a 7-day roster, with shifts allocated across Lake Macquarie beaches. Occasional travel to surrounding areas may also be required.
Your responsibilities will include:
Monitoring patrolled beach areas and responding to emergencies
Performing rescues and administering first aid when required
Operating and maintaining rescue equipment and facilities
Recording daily beach conditions and incident reports
Promoting safe beach behaviour through positive public interactions
Supporting a clean, professional and safe beach environment
As part of the recruitment process, shortlisted candidates will undertake a practical skills and fitness assessment which includes:
Swimming endurance and fitness testing
Conditions assessment
Watercraft technique
Resuscitation technique
General physical capability and endurance

You are passionate about beach safety and committed to making a positive difference in the community. Thriving in an active outdoor environment, you enjoy working as part of a professional team and take pride in delivering exceptional customer service to beachgoers. You bring a calm, confident and approachable manner, with the ability to remain composed under pressure and respond effectively in emergency situations.
You are a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage positively with a diverse range of people. Safety is at the forefront of everything you do, and you demonstrate sound judgement, strong situational awareness and proactive decision-making in fast-paced and dynamic environments. With a high level of physical fitness, resilience and professionalism, you are motivated to contribute to a safe, welcoming and enjoyable beach experience for the community.
You bring:
Current Provide First Aid Certificate - HLTAID011
Current Provide Advanced Resuscitation Certificate - HLTAID015
Satisfactory completion of all fitness and water-based skill requirements
Current Working with Children check
Class C Driver’s licence
Previous professional beach lifeguard experience is highly desirable
Current NSW Personal Watercraft licence (Jet ski) is desirable
