We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Carpenter to join our team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, renovating, and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials. You will work on a variety of residential projects, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard and in compliance with building regulations.

Task & responsibilities

• Studying building plans, architectural drawings, and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions, and installation procedures.

• Ordering and selecting timbers and materials, and preparing layouts.

• Cutting, shaping, and smoothing lumber and other materials according to measurements.

• Assembling and nailing cut and shaped parts.

• Erecting framework and roof framing, laying sub-flooring and floorboards, and verifying the trueness of structures.

• Nailing fascia panels, sheathing roofs, and fitting exterior wall cladding, as well as door and window frames.

• Assembling prepared wood to form structures and fittings ready for installation.

• Cutting wood joints and constructing wooden structures such as stairways, door frames, and hardwood floors.

• Repairing and installing furniture, doors, windows, and cabinets.

• Inspecting sites to conduct repairs or maintenance on existing woodwork and structures.

• Building scaffolding and other construction structures as required.

• Ensuring strict adherence to building regulations and safety standards.

• Using power tools and other carpentry equipment safely and effectively.

Qualification & experience

• Qualifications: An AQF Certificate III in Carpentry (or equivalent) including at least two years of on-the-job training, OR an AQF Certificate IV. Alternatively, at least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal

qualifications.

• Experience: Proven experience working as a Carpenter in residential construction, renovation, or maintenance.

• Skills: Strong understanding of construction plans and blueprints, high level of precision, and knowledge of various building materials.

• Attributes: Reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

• Licensing: Relevant registration or licensing may be required. A valid driver's license is preferred.
