This is hand on positions requiring experience in the manufacture and installation of custom cabinetry and joinery.
You will be expected to undertake the following duties:
- Examine drawings, blueprints and work orders to determine operational methods and calculate material requirement
- Determine specifications and measure and mark dimensions of parts on paper or lumber stock prior to cutting, following blueprints, to ensure a tight fit and quality product
- Marking out, cutting and shaping, assembling and fitting wood to manufacture and repair furniture to specification
- Attach parts or subassemblies together to form completed units, using glue, dowels, nails, screws, or clamps and reinforce joints with nails or other fasteners to prepare articles for finishing
- Install hardware, such as hinges, handles, catches, or drawer pulls, using hand tools
- Construct frames for chairs, couches and other bespoke furniture
- Ability to estimate the amounts, types, or costs of needed materials.
Skill required:
- Relevent qualification in cabinet making
- 3 years of work experience may substitute formal qualification
- Proven experience in residental and commercial joinery
- Strong understanding of cabinet making methods, materials and finishes
- High attention to details
- Ability to work dependently or part of a team
