Our team
The National Seabed Mapping Section (NSM) is responsible for producing and managing foundational seabed data products to support government priorities, including the Resourcing Australia’s Prosperity initiative, and is part of the Oceans, Reefs, Coasts and the Antarctic Branch (ORCA) in the Place and Communities Division of Geoscience Australia (GA). The NSM section also leads the collaborative AusSeabed initiative, which aims to improve the coverage, quality, accessibility and usability of seabed bathymetry mapping products in the Australian region through coordination, collaboration, and innovation.
The role
The bathymetric geoscientist role will apply hydrographic, geoscience and data management expertise to seabed mapping activities that inform sustainable management of Australia’s marine jurisdiction.
