We are looking for a skilled, passionate Automotive Electrician to join our busy Byron Bay workshop.

You will be tasked with identifying, diagnosing, and repairing electrical faults across a wide variety of vehicles, with a strong focus on VAG (Volkswagen Group) models. You will handle everything from modern vehicle networking and computerized modules to custom wiring on vintage classics.

Task & responsibilities

• Use advanced diagnostic equipment to identify and clear complex electrical and electronic faults. 
• Diagnose and repair vehicle charging, starting, lighting, and advanced safety/convenience systems.
• Service and troubleshoot modern electronic control modules (ECUs), sensor arrays, and wiring harnesses.
• Carry out electrical diagnostics and custom wiring/restoration tasks on classic air-cooled Volkswagens and vintage Euro models.
• Fitting and integrating automotive electrical equipment and electronic modules
• Work closely with our mechanical team to ensure thorough, complete bumper-to-bumper vehicle repairs.
• Performing diagnostic testing and precision replacement of defective alternators, voltage regulators, and starter motors
• Maintaining vehicle circuit integrity by replacing defective fuses, switches, and lamps
• Maintain clear documentation of work performed and explain technical solutions clearly.

Qualification & experience

• Qualified Trade: Minimum Cert III in Automotive Electrical Technology (or equivalent Australian-recognised trade qualification).
• Minimum 1 Year Full time experience working as a Automotive Electrician
• Euro & Classic Experience (Preferred): Strong background working with European makes (VW, Audi, Skoda, SEAT preferred). A genuine appreciation or knack for classic, vintage auto-electrical work is highly valued!
• Diagnostic Wizardry: High proficiency with modern scan tools, oscilloscopes, and wiring diagrams.
• Quality Mindset: Pride in your workmanship with a strict attention to detail—we treat our clients' vehicles like our own. 
• Team Player: A reliable, self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills who thrives in a collaborative workshop environment.
• Valid Australian Driver’s License.
