Exciting opportunities await! With significant contract wins fueling our growth, we're expanding our Water Infrastructure Team in Melbourne, VIC. Our team delivers vital services to a diverse array of clients, tackling challenges in water and wastewater treatment, dams, asset management, major conveyance, and more. We're committed to driving sustainable outcomes for our clients and the communities we serve.
Step into the role of Associate Director Mechanical Engineer and take the lead in shaping strategy, design governance and comprehensive delivery for complex water and wastewater treatment and conveyance programs. As the Lead Verifier, you'll set the technical standard, guide multidisciplinary teams, champion HAZOP/HAZID initiatives, and nurture emerging talent while strengthening client relationships across Victoria. How you’ll make a difference
Act as Lead Verifier for Mechanical design drawings, mechanical plant selection, specifications, WIMES Data Sheets, Valve schedules, Equipment Schedules, lifting strategies, hydraulic headloss calculations and P&IDs.
Prepare feasibility studies, outline design, detailed design and construction support.
Liaise and collaborate with our water and other discipline teams including civil, electrical, process and mechanical engineers nationwide.
Lead a Mechanical Engineering Team in designing mechanical elements for Water Treatment Plants, Wastewater Treatment Plants, and infrastructure projects. This includes developing scopes, proposals, estimates, and programs for projects such as WwTW and WTW.
Supporting the Project Manager and Design Lead to successfully deliver the Mechanical Scope to program and budget
Mentor and support junior engineers and provide training and development.
Visit site to carry surveys and support of liaisons with clients, contractors & suppliers.
Lead and contribute to design review meetings such as HAZOPs, HAZIDs, ALMs and SWIFTS.
Qualifications

The qualities that help you thrive
A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
Be a Chartered Engineer with a relevant institution, such as IMechE.
Extensive experience (ideally 15 years +) in leading and delivering innovative solutions for multidisciplinary projects in Water Infrastructure.
Well-established client networks across Australia, ideally with strong relationships and market presence in Victoria, including key water, infrastructure, government, and contractor stakeholders.
A proven ability to deliver engineering designs, reports, drawings, technical specifications, and calculations with confidence and precision.
