The Arborist role at Mr Lumberjack is a full-time position focused on carrying out professional tree care and maintenance work in a safe, efficient, and reliable manner. The purpose of the role is to ensure trees are properly maintained, hazards are identified and managed, and all arboricultural work is completed to a high standard while complying with workplace safety requirements. The position is suited to someone with practical experience in arboriculture who can work both independently and as part of a team.

The main responsibilities of the role include tree pruning, trimming, removal, and general maintenance, as well as inspecting trees for disease, decay, hazards, or structural defects. The Arborist is also expected to operate tools and equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and other machinery safely and effectively. Depending on the job, the role may involve climbing, rigging, ground-based duties, site safety management, client communication, and assisting with vegetation management and emergency tree works.

To perform this role, applicants are required to hold a Certificate III in Arboriculture, have at least one year of full-time relevant work experience, and possess a valid driver licence. They should also have sound practical knowledge of tree maintenance and safe work practices, along with the ability to work responsibly, follow instructions, and cooperate effectively with clients and team members.

Task & responsibilities

The Arborist will carry out tree pruning, trimming, removal, and general tree maintenance works in accordance with industry standards and safety requirements. The role involves inspecting trees to identify hazards, disease, decay, or structural issues and taking appropriate action. You will operate arboriculture tools, machinery, and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and other relevant plant, in a safe and efficient manner.

The successful applicant will also undertake climbing, rigging, and ground-based arboricultural duties where required. In addition, the role includes maintaining site safety, following work health and safety procedures, and ensuring jobs are completed to a high professional standard. You will liaise with clients and team members regarding job requirements and site conditions, and assist with general vegetation management and emergency tree works when needed.


Qualification & experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

Certificate III in Arboriculture

At least 1 year of full-time or equivalent part-time relevant work experience

A valid driver licence

Good practical knowledge of tree maintenance and safe work practices

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
