About This Apprenticeship
Full-time position, including TAFE-based training
Regular hours - 6.30am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday
Overtime Available
9-day fortnight
We pay award rates +10%
As a Fitter Machinist Apprentice, you’ll gain expertise in the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment. This is a 4-year apprenticeship where you will learn through on-the-job experience combined with formal study at TAFE, working toward a nationally recognised trade qualification to specialise in the fabrication, maintenance and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment.
Ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands and has a passion for mechanical systems. Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll:
Develop precision machining and fitting skills
Work with a range of tools and instruments to cut, shape, and finish metal to exact specifications
Learn to set up and operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drilling machines to produce high-quality parts and components
Preferred experience and attributes:
Completed or currently enrolled in Year 12
Good language, literacy and numeracy skills
Mechanical aptitude
Demonstrated work experience in the trade, and/or pre-apprenticeship Cert II pathway
Positive attitude, self-motivated, conscientious and eager to learn
Punctual, reliable and committed to completing your trade qualification
Current driver's license
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Required
National Police Certificate (also known as a National Police Check)
Able to complete a pre-employment medical assessment
