About RMH MHS and the Community Team

Mental Health Acute Response Team (MH-ART) supports consumers living across Melbourne's CBD and Inner West and provides community based acute assessment and intervention for The Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Services. The team delivers intensive, community-based care, including outreach, crisis assessment, brief intervention, medication support, psychosocial interventions and facilitation of referrals across RMH MHS or other services.

Your new role

  • Provide support and leadership in the delivery of evidence-based treatment and interventions, ensuring the provision of high-quality assertive outreach and brief interventions for adults experiencing acute mental health issues.
  • Work with a team of enthusiastic multidiscipline professionals providing assertive outreach and high-quality care to people in challenging period of their life.
  • Facilitate high standard acute mental health services, and contribute to training for clinicians developing their acute mental health skills.
  • Enjoy the benefits of working closely with colleagues in a combination of clinic based and assertive outreach work across Inner West catchment.

About you

To be successful, you will be

  • Interested in providing assessment and intervention for people experiencing acute mental illness or distress in the community.
  • Possess formal qualifications and registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse
  • Knowledge of effective evidence-based interventions appropriate to low prevalence disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, personality disorder, relapse prevention and substance abuse.
  • Leadership skills including initiative, advanced communication skills and the capacity and willingness to further develop these
  • Demonstrate extensive experience in the provision of specialist services in public mental health settings with a strong focus on local communities and inter-agency specific knowledge.
