We are looking for an Accountant to join our finance team at Stratarama. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of general accounting duties, including financial reporting, taxation compliance, budgeting, and assisting in the management of the company's financial activities. Task & responsibilities
General Accounting:
- Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and journals
- Process and review accounts payable and receivable transactions
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure financial accuracy
Financial Reporting:
- Assist with monthly and year-end financial reporting, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports for internal stakeholders
- Prepare and lodge BAS and IAS reports
Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and file tax returns, including GST and PAYG obligations
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal taxation regulations
- Assist in audits and prepare related documentation
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist with the preparation of financial budgets and forecasts for the business
- Track and report on variances from budgeted figures
Client Support:
- Liaise with clients, providing financial insights and answering queries
- Help set up and maintain accounting systems for clients
Qualification & experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or CA qualification preferred, but not essential
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an accounting role
- Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation regulations
- Experience in financial reporting, tax compliance, and budget management
- High level of attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of Strata and property management accounting would be advantageous
