The role:

ENFINITE ADVISORY PTY LTD t/a Expert Business & Tax Advisory is a dynamic boutique firm specialising in tax, business advisory, virtual CFO, SMSF and government grants, delivering high-impact solutions alongside seasoned professionals. We are currently seeking a full-time Accountant to join our team, with the role based in Sydney, NSW. This position is 38 hours per week, and the ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant experience and hold a master qualification in professional accounting. A competitive salary of $78,000, plus superannuation, is on offer.

Position Overview:

The accountant is responsible for delivering end-to-end financial accounting and tax compliance services for individuals and businesses. This includes preparation and review of financial statements, management of regulatory compliance, strategic tax planning, and business advisory support. The role is based within a public accounting practice focusing on technical and advisory responsibilities.

Task & responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare accurate financial statements (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in accordance with AASB standards.
  • Ensure timely preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for stakeholders.
  • Maintain general ledger reconciliations and ensure integrity of financial data.

Taxation – Company, Trust, and Individual

  • Prepare and lodge company, trust, partnership, and individual income tax returns.
  • Monitor and reconcile ATO Income Tax and Integrated Client Accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with GST, PAYG, FBT, Payroll Tax, and Superannuation requirements.
  • Assist clients with tax planning to legally minimise tax liabilities.
  • Identify eligibility for small business concessions and CGT relief.
  • Conduct Division 7A loan assessments, franking account reconciliation, and inter-entity transaction reviews.

BAS/IAS & Indirect Tax

  • Review and lodge BAS and IAS across entities.
  • Analyse GST treatment for complex transactions and apportion expenses appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with industry-specific GST rules and fuel tax credits where applicable.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Input

  • Assist in developing annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models for business planning.
  • Perform variance analysis and advise management on performance and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Contribute financial insights for operational and strategic decision-making.

Audit Preparation & Support

  • Prepare documentation for internal and external audits and liaise with auditors to facilitate timely completion.
  • Implement recommendations from audit findings to improve controls and compliance.

Risk & Process Improvement

  • Monitor financial risks and maintain adequate insurance coverage including Icare, business interruption, and cyber insurance.
  • Improve accounting processes and automation using tools such as Xero, QuickBooks, Stripe, Hubdoc.

Team Collaboration & Supervision

  • Provide guidance and review work of junior accounting staff.
  • Participate in performance reviews and contribute to team development and incentive initiatives.

Qualification & experience

  • Degree in accounting, commerce, or related field.
  • Experience in a public accounting or tax practice.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian taxation laws, ATO procedures, and compliance obligations 
  • Experienced working under Registered Tax Agents.
  • Proficient in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks) and ATO portals.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and client engagement skills.
