The Trustee for SBC Trust T/A Saltbush Contracting are seeking qualified Diesel Motor Mechanics to join our maintenance team in a full-time, permanent position,  supporting the servicing, diagnosis and repair of our heavy vehicles and diesel-powered equipment.

Working alongside our workshop and operational teams, you will help keep our fleet safe, reliable and ready for work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on heavy vehicles and diesel-powered equipment.
• Diagnosing mechanical faults using diagnostic equipment, inspections and testing.
• Inspecting, repairing and overhauling diesel engines and associated components.
• Maintaining and repairing transmissions, drivelines, cooling, fuel and lubrication systems.
• Inspecting and repairing braking, steering, suspension and hydraulic systems within your competency.
• Removing and replacing worn or defective components and checking equipment operation following repairs.
• Responding to breakdowns and undertaking site repairs as required.
• Completing accurate service records, job cards and defect reports.
• Following isolation procedures, safe work practices and workshop requirements.

About you

You will bring:

• A relevant diesel motor mechanic or heavy commercial vehicle mechanical trade qualification, or recognised equivalent.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing heavy diesel vehicles.
• Strong fault-finding skills and experience using diagnostic tools.
• The ability to interpret technical manuals and mechanical specifications.
• A current driver’s licence.
• A practical, reliable approach and strong attention to detail.
• A commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
• The ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
• Experience with road trains, prime movers, side tippers and mobile plant will be highly regarded. An HR or higher driver’s licence and relevant additional tickets are desirable.

Salary: $95,000.00 - $105,000.00 per annum plus superannuation, with the final offer reflecting experience and the applicable market salary rate.
