The Retail Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day retail operations of George & Ben's Fresh Food Market. The role involves managing product ranges, stock levels, purchasing, pricing, sales, customer service, staff supervision and store operations, while ensuring efficient service, strong business performance and compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.

Task & responsibilities
- Determine product range, stock levels and customer service standards based on customer needs and market demand.
- Develop purchasing, pricing and promotional strategies to support sales growth and profitability.
- Promote the market's fresh food and grocery products through advertising and customer engagement activities.
- Assist customers with product selection, providing advice on product quality, suitability and usage.
- Maintain accurate stock, sales and financial records and monitor stock movements and sales performance.
- Prepare budgets and monitor expenditure to support the store's financial targets.
- Manage recruitment, training, rostering and supervision of staff to maintain efficient retail operations.
- Ensure compliance with WHS requirements and maintain safe workplace practices.
Full time Permanent Job where at least 38 Hours a week working would be required.
Qualification & experience
- Minimum 1–3 years experience in retail management, supermarket operations, fresh food retail or a related field.
- AQF Skill level 2 - equivalent to a Diploma or Advanced Diploma level qualification.
- Previous experience leading and supervising staff in a busy retail environment.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to motivate and support team members.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong commercial awareness and practical understanding of retail sales, stock management and profitability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with customers, suppliers and staff.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of the wider management team.
- Confidence in coaching, mentoring and developing retail staff.
- Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced fresh food retail environment.
