Salary Range: $80,000 to $85,000 per annum plus superannuation

We are seeking an organised and proactive Retail Store Manager to oversee the overall day-to-day management and operation of our seafood retail store located within the shopping centre's fresh food precinct. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient store operations, appropriate stock levels, high product quality and customer service standards. The role requires strong leadership, organisational, purchasing, stock management and customer service skills, with the ability to manage retail operations in a fast-paced seafood environment.

Task & responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the seafood retail store and establish appropriate service standards to ensure efficient store operations and a high level of customer satisfaction.

• Determine the range and quantity of fresh fish, shellfish and other seafood products to be stocked, taking into account customer demand, seasonal availability, product quality, sales trends and expected stock turnover.

• Manage the purchasing of seafood products from suppliers, including assessing supply requirements, liaising and negotiating with suppliers, reviewing purchase costs and arranging appropriate stock levels to meet customer demand.

• Determine and regularly review product pricing, taking into account purchase costs, market conditions, competitor pricing, product availability, wastage and required profit margins.

• Plan and implement marketing and promotional activities, including seasonal promotions, special offers and in-store product displays, to promote the store and its seafood products and increase sales.

• Serve and sell seafood products to customers as required, identify customer requirements, and provide advice on product selection, characteristics, appropriate quantities, storage, handling and suitable uses of different seafood products.

• Monitor and maintain records of sales, inventory levels, stock movements, wastage, operating expenses and financial transactions, and prepare and control the store's operating budget.

• Recruit, roster, train and supervise store staff, allocate duties, monitor work performance and ensure employees maintain required standards of customer service, product handling and workplace practices.

• Oversee the freshness, quality, presentation and rotation of seafood stock, and implement appropriate inventory control procedures to maintain product quality and minimise spoilage and wastage.

• Ensure the store complies with applicable occupational health and safety, food safety, hygiene and seafood handling requirements, and maintains a safe, clean and appropriately presented retail environment.

Qualification & experience

• An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma or higher qualification in Business, Management, Economics or a related field is required.

• A minimum of one year of relevant employment experience, on a full-time or equivalent part-time basis, in retail management, retail store operations or a related field, preferably within a fresh food, seafood or similar retail environment.

• Demonstrated experience in stock and inventory management, purchasing, pricing and day-to-day retail store operations.

• Experience in supervising and coordinating staff and maintaining appropriate customer service standards.

• Ability to manage supplier relationships, coordinate purchasing arrangements and maintain appropriate stock levels to meet customer demand.

• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent organisational, time management and customer service skills, with strong attention to detail.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment and manage competing priorities.

• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, work health and safety, and appropriate seafood handling requirements will be highly regarded.
