The position involves installing, maintaining and repairing metal roofing systems, roof and wall cladding, flashings, gutters, downpipes and associated rainwater products across [residential/commercial/industrial] projects throughout Northern Rivers, Tweed Shire & Southeast QLD
The role includes both new installation work and remedial roof plumbing, maintenance and repairs.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Read and interpret plans, drawings, specifications and job instructions.
- Inspect worksites and calculate the materials and equipment required.
- Measure, mark, cut, shape, fabricate and join sheet-metal roofing components.
- Install, maintain and repair metal roofing and wall-cladding systems.
- Fabricate and install flashings, capping, box gutters, fascia gutters, downpipes, rain heads, sumps and other rainwater products.
- Set out and install roof drainage systems to the required falls and specifications.
- Locate roof leaks, corrosion, defective flashings and damaged roof components.
- Complete remedial roof plumbing, maintenance and replacement work.
- Seal joints and penetrations and ensure completed roofing systems are secure and watertight.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it complies with plans, applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
- Safely operate relevant hand tools, power tools and roof-plumbing equipment.
- Work safely at heights and comply with WHS requirements, SWMS, site procedures and PPE requirements.
- Coordinate with supervisors, builders, tradespeople and other members of the project team.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area.
Skills and experience
The successful applicant will have:
- An AQF Certificate III in Roof Plumbing, a relevant AQF Certificate IV, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- At least [two/three] years of relevant hands-on roof-plumbing experience.
- Demonstrated experience with metal roofing, flashings, roof and wall cladding, guttering, downpipes and rainwater systems.
- The ability to read plans, undertake measurements and calculate material requirements accurately.
- Sound knowledge of roof-drainage principles and relevant Australian building and safety requirements.
- A current Construction White Card.
- Working at Heights certification.
- A current driver licence.
- The relevant roof-plumbing licence or registration for [State/Territory], or eligibility to obtain it.
- Good communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
