Pine Grove Hotel is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team in Beaconsfield Upper, Victoria.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals, maintaining consistent food standards, assisting with menu development and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. We are looking for a hands-on Chef who can work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards.

Task & responsibilities

• Plan and prepare menus in consultation with kitchen management, considering customer preferences and seasonal ingredients.
• Prepare, season and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.
• Monitor food quality throughout preparation, cooking and presentation.
• Manage food preparation and coordinate kitchen activities to ensure timely service.
• Estimate food requirements, monitor stock levels and assist with ordering ingredients and kitchen supplies.
• Ensure proper storage, stock rotation and temperature control of food products.
• Maintain compliance with food safety regulations, workplace health and safety requirements and kitchen hygiene standards.
• Train and supervise junior kitchen staff, including Cooks and kitchen assistants.
• Monitor portion sizes, minimise food wastage and assist with food cost control.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, food preparation areas and workstations.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff and management to ensure efficient daily operations and consistent customer satisfaction.

Qualification & experience

• AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Diploma of Hospitality Management, or an equivalent relevant qualification
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
• Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, menu planning and kitchen operations.
• Strong understanding of Australian food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene standards.
• Excellent organisational, time management and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Ability to maintain consistent food quality and presentation during busy service periods.
• Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
