MTC Nepean Pty Ltd T/A Maharaja Nepean is seeking a motivated and experienced Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes while maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and safety.

Task & responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present authentic Indian dishes with consistency and flair
• Assist with menu planning and development of daily specials or seasonal offerings.
• Monitor food quality and portion control to ensure consistency and cost efficiency.
• Maintain kitchen hygiene and safety standards, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and OH&S requirements.
• Receive, store, and rotate stock, assisting with inventory management to minimise waste.
• Work collaboratively with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service during busy periods.
• Assist with training and supervision of junior kitchen staff, where required.
• Adapt to special dietary requirements and customer requests, ensuring high-quality service.
• Support the Chef in maintaining operational efficiency, including prep work, cleaning schedules, and equipment maintenance.

Qualification & experience

• Certificate III level qualification in Commercial Cookery/Kitchen Management (Certificate IV and Diploma will be highly regarded)
• At least one year of experience in a similar role
• Extensive experience in the fast-paced kitchen environment
• Strong Culinary skills with knowledge of contemporary cooking techniques
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and OH&S.
