Task & responsibilities

• Undertaking geotechnical site investigations, including drilling supervision, soil and rock logging and sampling
• Planning and coordinating field investigations with project managers, drilling contractors and other subcontractors
• Construction-phase geotechnical inspections
• Inclinometer installation, monitoring and interpretation
• Groundwater monitoring and data collection
• Accurate collection, interpretation and management of field and laboratory data
• Preparation of factual and interpretive geotechnical reports
• Developing geotechnical recommendations based on site conditions, investigation results and project requirements
• Liaising with clients, contractors and other project consultants
• Managing assigned projects from fieldwork through to reporting
• Working across multiple projects at different stages of delivery
• Supporting senior engineers with more complex geotechnical assessments and project requirements

Qualification & experience

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline
• Minimum of one years work experience 
• Previous experience working in geotechnical engineering, including site investigation and reporting
• Strong understanding of soil and rock logging and geotechnical investigation practices
• Comfortable working both independently on site and in an office environment
• Confident communicating with clients, contractors and project teams
• Strong written communication and technical reporting skills
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Willing to travel to project sites across Sydney, the Illawarra and surrounding areas
• Current Australian driver's licence and ability to drive manual vehicle
