ZHS GADAR PTY LTD t/a MEMON MOTORS. We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic (General) to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, servicing and repairing a variety of light motor vehicles.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in vehicle engines and associated components using appropriate diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
- Diagnosing and testing vehicle components with the assistance of computerised diagnostic equipment and scan tools.
- Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, suspension components and other mechanical parts for inspection and repair.
- Inspecting dismantled components to identify wear, damage, faults and other conditions affecting vehicle performance.
- Repairing or replacing worn, damaged and defective mechanical components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and service requirements.
- Reassembling engines, transmissions and other mechanical components following repairs and ensuring all parts are correctly fitted and adjusted.
- Carrying out scheduled and preventative maintenance services, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups and general vehicle servicing.
- Testing and adjusting repaired mechanical components and systems to ensure correct operation, reliability and vehicle performance.
- Servicing and repairing braking, steering, suspension, transmission and engine systems of light motor vehicles.
- Referring to manufacturer specifications, technical information and service manuals when diagnosing faults and completing repairs.
- Conducting post-repair inspections and road testing vehicles where required to confirm that repairs have been completed correctly.
- Identifying additional repair or maintenance work required to ensure vehicles are maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition.
- Maintaining accurate records of servicing, repairs, parts replaced and work performed.
- Maintaining tools, diagnostic equipment and workshop areas in a clean, organised and safe condition.
- Following workplace health and safety procedures and applicable automotive industry standards at all times.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, applicants should possess:
- A relevant automotive mechanical trade qualification, preferably Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience as a Motor Mechanic (General) or in a closely related automotive mechanical role, with demonstrated experience in vehicle diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, fault finding, and mechanical repairs.
- Strong knowledge of petrol engines and light vehicle mechanical systems, including transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults accurately.
- Experience using computerised automotive diagnostic equipment and scan tools.
- Strong skills in vehicle servicing, maintenance, component removal, repair, replacement and reassembly.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, workshop manuals and manufacturer service information.
- Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a workshop team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing repairs to a high standard.
- Good communication, organisational and time-management skills.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- A current Australian driver's licence or the ability to obtain one where required.
