We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.

Task & responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

• Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu requirements.
• Preparing ingredients, including washing, cutting, measuring, seasoning and portioning food prior to cooking.
• Cooking and presenting food to a consistently high standard.
• Monitoring the quality of food at all stages of preparation and cooking.
• Ensuring appropriate portion control and presentation of meals and food products.
• Checking the freshness and quality of ingredients before use.
• Operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintaining appropriate food storage, labelling and stock rotation practices.
• Assisting with monitoring kitchen stock levels and advising when ingredients and supplies need to be replenished.
• Accommodating customer dietary requirements and special food requests where required.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen and food preparation area.
• Ensuring compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety, and hygiene requirements.
• Working effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure food is prepared and served efficiently, particularly during busy service periods.
• Minimising food wastage and assisting with efficient use of kitchen ingredients and supplies.
• Performing other reasonable cooking and kitchen-related duties as required.

Qualification & experience

To be considered for this position, applicants should have:

• A relevant cookery qualification, such as a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience as a Cook or in a similar commercial kitchen role.
• Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to food quality, consistency and presentation.
• Availability to work according to the operational requirements of the business, including weekends and public holidays where required.
